Estate Planning For Peace Of Mind

You Came To The Right Place

Estate Planning And Elder Law, Serving Grayson County And Beyond

Hello, I am Craig Watson. I have practiced law for 30 years, almost exclusively in estate planning, probate and elder law.  Prior to that I practiced for four years as a CPA. I invite you to reach out to me for a phone conference or an office consultation. By the end of our conversation, I am confident you will conclude you came to the right place to have your legal issues addressed.

Our law firm, Craig W. Watson, Attorney At Law, is located in Sherman, Texas. We have been in the community since the 1990s and at our current office location since 2005. Most of our clients are here in Grayson County and the surrounding Texoma region, but we serve families from Dallas-Fort Worth and all over. We also welcome out-of-state clients who are helping Mom or Dad with elder law matters or who are called back to Texas to probate their parents’ estates. For our clients who are professionals or business owners, we can also address assets protection and succession planning.

Whether you have a modest estate or millions of dollars in assets, we understand that these issues are important and urgent to you. I believe in attention to detail, because estate law is about protection and peace of mind.

A Certified Specialist With Broad Life Experience

I have the rare distinction of being certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, as recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This means that I have taken and passed a lengthy written exam covering wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate, estate and trust administration, estate taxation, guardianship, asset protection and nursing home Medicaid qualification. In order to qualify to sit for the exam, I had to ask several judges and other lawyers who were either board-certified or well experienced and familiar with my practice and skills to recommend me.  Also I had to submit a list of actual client engagements that demonstrated repeated experiences in all of these areas of law practice.

My experience working as a certified public accountant has helped me immeasurably when counseling clients on the financial and tax implications of their estate planning decisions.

Local Roots And Lived Values

In addition to building a law practice, I have been a partner and sole proprietor of several local businesses, and I own several rental houses. I live on a working family farm with a large herd of cattle and supervise a full time ranch manager and an employee. I am a partner in a used car dealership.  In the community, I am a founding member and elder of a church with an approximate attendance of 600 per Sunday.  I served as president of a private Christian school that became fully accredited and launched a high school. Both the private Christian school and the church launched and completed successful multimillion-dollar capital building campaigns while I was in leadership. My wife and I raised three sons who are now pursuing their dreams.  These diverse life experiences improve my ability to serve as your counsel. They always provide some connection to new clients and often tie in directly to legal issues we are discussing. My goal is to put you at ease and get to know each other so that you have the confidence to entrust me with your important personal and family legal matters. I have lived and worked in Sherman for most of my life. I believe my education, life experiences, values, personality and office staff uniquely qualify me to help you with your legal matters.

Solid Advice And Customer Service Never Go Out Of Style
